WEEPING OF THE VINE

With the arrival of spring, in our vineyards you can be witness of the phenomenon of the Weeping of the Vine, which corresponds to the reactivation of the metabolism and cellular respiration of the plant. The Weeping of the Vine manifests itself with the dripping of a transparent liquid from the pruning cuts made on the shoots of the previous year. This happens thanks to the increase in temperatures and the reactivation of the sap vessels that lead to the ascent of the raw sap.

This phenomenon, more or less evident depending on the climatic conditions that characterize the “vegetative awakening” phase, is of fundamental importance. In this phase indeed, the passage of the sap rehydrates the plant tissues after the winter rest, leading to the swelling of the buds and in the immediately following phase, to the Budding which starts the new Viticultural season.
