BUDDING

Following the Weeping of the Vine, which marks the resumption of the vegetative activity of the plant, the budding takes place.

The budding of the vine is one of the most fascinating phases of the entire vegetative cycle: the buds, swollen, begin to open showing the unfolding of the first leaves that will kick off the wine-growing season. The sprouts during the early stages are wrapped in a soft fluff that protects them from the temperature variations typical of this season.

The process is controlled by external and internal stimuli where the temperature takes over, therefore the beginning of budding is very variable depending on various factors such as: type of soil, exposure of the vineyard, grape variety and period of pruning.
